Last Minute

One day it will end. One day the Sun will rise for a final time to warm our earth. For a final time to feed the photosynthetic plant. Final time to send its glorious beams on this scourged planet and the inhabitants herein will be oblivious to the obvious. That day light will seem to tunnel through each life, sending one final blow to darkness. The Shadow, ever the mute witness to human (in)activity, will be preparing her final arguments. So,with the Sun,it will make final notes, noting final movements. The Wind will caress human faces gently at first. This will be considered normal and ignored and so the Wind will get into its element.Threatening entire settlements with destruction and causing chaos, this Wind will be seeking a final audience with Man.Too busy to take note,Man will be wondering why this 'Thing' though this abundant has been less supportive in his energy needs. And so,he will not listen to it. That night the Moon will appear in its strength, perhaps bidding farewell to the oceans and seas where its service had many nights been directed. And also taken for granted. That night the moon will be sending a final warning to man. Doing what man could not do for fellow man. Fishermen—those that have made tuna their prey-- will be unhappy about this unwelcome guest. Too long they have wondered why this pretentious small ‘sun’ has ruined business. But the tuna will have known that this night is the end and so they will be happy. Happy that there will be no further ‘groaning’,’moaning’or ‘travailing in pain’. And they will remember when it first happened. That time the whole planet became their home.No longer were they restricted to a home wherein refuse was fast being cast..No,fish will be happy in the knowledge that if the first time was any redemptive, the second would be better..And so they will try to warn man..They will surface despite the strong moon in places where there captors have for ceaseless ages cast their nets..And then they will swim into the nets and fill them till they almost break. The remnants would camp around the boats and jump joyfully around the canoe, peace and good tidings in their chivalry. Hopefully man will be called to attention. The last time they were forced to do this, nets broke and man under the powerful grip of nature, accepted his unworthiness. That day the whole creation will try to save man. And at night they would get desperate. The earth will heave and quake. Rocks and gorges will bid man,”Come..” But hitherto used to instructing these ‘lifeless things’,Man will attempt to issue orders, barking out,’Fall on us and hide us from that Face..”.Rocks,gorges and dens thus ordered will then confirm that Man has lost authority and pick themselves off huge mountains and move to the sea. Entire islands will be ashamed to look at man in his fifteen seconds of shame and will dutifully sink into the vast waters below.. Perhaps it will be too late when the Sun makes a reemergence at midnight as the moon seeks to recharge its batteries. lastminutechronicles.
